Hello. How is your summer going? Our is going great! Sorry I haven’t written for a while, but we had a few weeks off and went to Canada. It was great. I’ll blog about it soon.
こんにちは。皆さんの夏はどんな感じですか？私たちのは最高です！しばらくの間ブログを更新していなくてすみません。２週間ほど休みを取って、カナダへ帰省していました。カナダはとても良かったです。またブログにも書きますね。
I wanted to mention a few videos today for kids. They are both phonics videos. Phonics teaches how to read based on the phonetic sounds of letters. It is very important for Japanese students to master if they want to avoid ‘katakana’ pronunciation. It also helps them to read, of course.
今回は、子供向けのビデオをいくつか取り上げます。両方ともフォニックスのビデオです。フォニックスとは、文字の音声に基づいた読む方法を教えるものです。もし「カタカナのような発音」を避けたいのであれば、フォニックスをマスターすることは日本人の生徒にとって大変重要です。そして、もちろんフォニックスは生徒たちが英語を読むのにも役立ちます。
The first video is by me. The good thing about it is that children can look at the shape of my mouth so they can copy it to make the same sound.
１つ目のビデオは私（Kevin）が作ったものです。このビデオの良い所は、子供たちが私の口の形を見ることができ、そうして同じ音を出すために口の形を真似することができるという点です。
Click on the bottom right hand corner of the video screen (the four arrows pointing outward) to make the video full screen.
ビデオスクリーンの右下の角（４つの矢印が外側を指しています）をクリックすると、スクリーンのサイズを大きくできます。
The second video is one that I show from time to time in my class.
２つ目のビデオは、私がレッスンでときどき見せるものです。
Next week, I will blog about our the totally awesome summer courses for kindergartners and elementary school kids we had this summer.
来週は、この夏に行った幼稚園児・小学生対象のサマースクール（最高でした！）について書く予定にしています。
