\u304a\u554f\u3044\u5408\u308f\u305b<\/a>\u3092\u3054\u5229\u7528\u304f\u3060\u3055\u3044\u3002<\/p>\nHere at Kevin’s English House, we have taught English conversation to all ages, levels, and types of students. Among those students, we’ve helped many of them pass entrance tests to their dream schools. Today, I’d like to share some news about some students who not only got into their dream schools but did so with the help of their English skills. The first student got into a prestigious university by recommendation, working hard day in, day out so she could bypass the university testing procedure all together. The second chose to become a doctor, but to study medicine abroad… and only in English.<\/p>\n
I’m very lucky that I could teach both of these students from when they were in kindergarten. It has been a pleasure watching them grow. Looking through some old pictures on the computer to use for this blog post brought back a flood of wonderful memories. I looked through thousand of photos of my students to find these ones of them. I enjoyed every moment of it. Anyway; back to the students. I hope these brief stories motivate students of English of all ages. They show that with the right attitude, persistence and effort over time, anything can be accomplished. Also, some people say children shouldn’t study a foreign language from an early age. Sora and Kazuki prove them wrong.<\/p>\n
Sora has studied here since she was 3. She displayed a confidence and a tenacity from an early age. I knew right away she was special. In all of the years I taught her, she showed up to every class ready and focused. She took that focus and applied it to English speech contests. Remember I said she was tenacious? Well, the first time she tried out for the speech contest, she was rejected by her school. This was when she was in the third grade of junior high school. Of course she was devastated, but she didn’t give up. No, not at all. The next year, she tried again and was number one in Takamatsu and was in the top 5 in Kagawa. Not bad for someone who couldn’t even get chosen as her school representative a year before. Better yet, in high school, she actually became the Kagawa champion, something that someone from her high school hadn’t done in 8 years. Also in the third grade of high school, she passed EIKEN pre-1st. More impressive is that she studied very hard in high school and in the fall of 2017 was accepted to the Waseda University Faculty of International Studies through recommendation. She didn’t have to write any of the tests to get in. Awesome! She said the results in the speech contests helped her out a lot and that she wouldn’t have been able to do it without our help at Kevin’s English House. Well, that’s great to hear, Sora. Thank you for saying so. We’d like to help you again in the future. You’re ambitious. Maybe we’ll help you when you run for Prime Minister of Japan.<\/p>\n

My daughter and I feel the same way. Sora is where she is now because of Kevin. She had never wanted to quite Kevin’s class, and I remember when she was young, she was having fun using English that she learned from Kevin. I think she reall loved English. Thank you very much!<\/p>\n
Kazuki has studied at Kevin’s English House since kindergarten. He displayed a natural ability and enjoyment of English from the start. He took extra summer classes and was with Yukari and me for large parts of the day. I remember he loved using English and being around English a lot during those summer classes. Maybe that’s part of what got him interested in studying abroad. Unlike Sora, Kazuki never entered any speech contests. I asked him to do so many times because I think he could have done so well with his wonderful pronunciation and English skills, but unfortunately, he was a little too shy to enter an English speech or recitation contest. He made up for it by getting fantastic scores on English tests at school and achieved the EIKEN pre-1st level while in the second grade of high school. He also he excelled in our English conversation class, entering our advanced adults class with people who have been studying for many years, used English for work, and even lived abroad. He did great. Kazuki likes and excels at English so much, he decided to bypass the Japanese university testing system all together and go to school in Hungary… to become a doctor. Yes, that is right, he will study abroad to become a doctor using only English. I know you can do it. I have no doubts whatsoever.<\/p>\n

My son has been taking Kevin’s classes since he was in kindergarten. Since then, he has loved Kevin’s lessons in which he could play, have fun, and learn. He went to Kevin’s class happily every week. I guess English wasn’t something to study for him. I think English was a part of his life and he was picking it up just like he was picking up Japanese. On the day when he left Japan, what he said was he was excited. Even though he was going to a foreign country alone, he wasn’t uneasy or worried. He was excited to talk to and study with people from different countries. I’m truly grateful to Kevin and Yukari for teaching my son so well that he could study abroad with confidence. His dream, which was studying abroad, came true because he was going to Kevin’s English House.<\/p>\n
Good luck to both Sora and Kazuki. You’ve been wonderful students. We’ll miss you, but we are SOOO excited to see what is in store for you in the future.
